My thoughts: One of the alltime best metal albums ever released. This was the first album by KISS I bought, and man was it great! It has 4 huge hits on here: Detroit Rock CIty, God of Thunder, Beth, and Shout it out Loud. Don't get me wrong, the whole album (minus one) is great, those 4 are just the ones that really stand out in KISStory. But enough on that, onto the review!
Track List
1. Detroit Rock City
10,000/10
This song was what started it all for me... one of the few songs I remembered from when I suddenly stopped listening to KISS for some unknown reason in 2001. Very very good song, and this is the best version of it, the one on the single and greatest hits sound extremely crappy compared to this version, and they don't have the cool opening and car crash at the end! But anyway great song.
2. King of the Night Time World
10/10
This song was pretty cool too, nothing special or really one of their best songs but still pretty good.
3. God of Thunder
100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000/10
As you can see, I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! This song DEFINITELY makes it into the top 5, it has really cool guitar work, and Gene's voice sounds awesome on this song! Paul wrote it and was the original vocalist for the song, in fact if you buy the box set you can hear the Paul demo, but he really sucked with it and it's a good thing that Gene sings the album version. Another one of the few I remember from when I was 8 9 and 10 years old.
4. Great Expectations
4/10
I really didn't like this track that much, not too bad at first but when the church choir comes in it ultimately kills the song.
5. Flaming Youth
8/10
This song was pretty ignored..... it wasn't all that bad. It did manage to make it onto Greatest KISS, and the only live recording I know of is on the DVD of The Lost Concert. The chorus eventually becomes a little annoying on this one though, but still not bad at all.
6. Sweet Pain
10/10
Gene Simmons makes up for Great Expectations with this extremely unknown track that is pretty cool.... I don't believe there is a live recording of this one, and that's to bad because it really is good.
7. Shout it out Loud
100,000/10
Very very good, one of KISS' best songs and one of the most popular. Paul and Gene both contribute lead vocals on this song, and they sound great! Too bad there isn't much of a solo on this one.
8. Beth
10/10
The infamous ballad sang by Peter Criss. This is a pretty good song, and is worth a listen or 2. But I seriously doubt you've never heard it before.
9. Do You Love Me
0/10
This song fucking BLOWS!!!! Not enought to bring down the album but it still ficking sucks!
Album Rating:10,000,000,000/10
Final Words: Very very good album, if you are new to KISS then this is the perfect choice for you, you really won't regret it!
