Its like Norm said its hard to start a forum just for chatting unless alot of peeps go there and chat all the time... Most of the time here its pretty slow... What I would suggest to keep a forum alive is to offer features like online games or movies or downloads... My boards suffered because of lack of time on my part and now I have renewed interest and an idea which I think will succeed... If you notice the majority of boards out there with a high volume of posters generally have something big to offer... Take for instance some of the forums I frequent like Celestia: shatters.net/forum/ Celestia is very big and one of a kind astronomy software and the forums benefit from this... Another is GameDev gamedev.net A Game development forum that offers help in programming games... Im not saying rush out and make a game or a piece of software but what I am saying is think of something thats truly unique and could gain a big following and you have a busy forum... Another way that may help is SEO... Search engine optimisation... This can be done best by having your own domain and shared hosting server that you purchase instead of being on freewebs or the like... This will get you out there when someone puts in Horror Reviews your site might rank on the first few pages with some hard work... Or you can buy ranking using Overture or something kile this... Again for you to shell out money it is best to offer something that peeps will want to pay or donate cash for to pay for all of this... Currently Im thinking of turning my flunked belzorath.com into a torrent site for underground movies and music and I think I may have something that will work... If not oh well...
