I agree The Thing remake was awsome.
I really liked Dawn of The Dead. I thought the zombies that actually ran, instead of the lame old zombie limp kicked ass. I am sorry, but a zombie running full speed is scary to me.

I don't care for fast zombies well it's more the new lens camera shots I notice because I liked rotld1 and them zombie rans, but they didnt have that style camera..

I find that watching the zombies move slowly is more creepy to watch but if I was in that situation I would find zombies running after me ALOT scarier. It's kind of dumb how people get caught by slow moving zombies lol.
I thought the Dawn of the Dead remake was ok. It wasn't anything original. Everyone claims the baby scene was so original and great but it had already been done before and no one ever seems to realize this.

The slow ones aren't scary unless you turn around and one's right there. They remind me of those mummy movies made in the 30's....they're even slower than zombies and the guys they strangle just stand still screaming while the mummy walks up to them. I guess they're so terrified they just can't move out of ther way.

yeah thats it. I bet many of the people piss in thier pants hey me and mork got into a fight about this in pm's a while back. I like them slow and steady but if zombie were to come back to life I am sure they would not be able to do a 50 yard dash under 10 secs. But I would love to punch one in the face and bust off the jaw like that girl did in rotld2 lmfao and how the zombie grabed for his jaw that was great. Not to get off the subject but in rotld2 does anyone have the dvd? I thought it sucked how they changed the score to it.

I just have the VHS. I didn't know the score was changed. It's so stupid that they do that with the DVD releases. They changed the score for Happy Birthday to Me when they released it on DVD. I think they did it to a few other movies to. It's really stupid and annoying. I HATE it!

Oh man, don't even get me started on that comment Kayleigh, i'll just say that the Dawn remake was not only the worst remake ever but the worst film ever, it sucked big time.

I gotta agree with ya on that. I have so many friends who just loved the Dawn remake and personally I couldnt stand it. Dont get me wrong, it had some nice scenes here and there and the zombie effects were good, but c'mon...it wasnt even CLOSE to being as good as the original. Slow zombies are far more freaky and realistic. It's all about rigor mortis people! hehe. And now I here they are remaking DAY of the Dead!!! Nooooo! As far as best remakes go though. Definately The Thing is up there. Thats back when Carpenter still made great flicks, and I was surprised at how much I liked The Hills Have Eyes remake. I thought it was really good. I just wish they had left in the line: "I smell that baby!" hehe. One of the creepiest lines ever.

I still haven't watched the remake of The Hills Have Eyes and I'm not sure I want to. I've heard mixed reviews for it and it was #1 on Ebert & Roeperts Worst Movies of 06 list.
I have to agree with you about The Thing remake. Carpenter's films haven't been the greatest lately but Cigarette Burns kicked ass!

I hear ya man, I was very very worried about seeing the Hills remake, but I was pleasantly surprised. The director pulled no punches with it, and it was genuinely disturbing in places. I'd recommend checking it out at least. And Craven had a hand in it, it's not like he just sold the rights and said screw it. I think he produced and oversaw the filming, cant remmeber off the top of my head. I really have to see Cigarette Burns. You're like the 4th person who says it's a nice return to horror for Carpenter. Can you rent it yet?

I actually got the remake as a gift and it's been sitting on my shelf for weeks. I was thinking about returning it for another movie but I think I'll finally open it and watch it lol. Almost every recent remake has been garbage and I didn't want to watch it just to be disappointed. Plus I could have returned it for another movie I really wanted and if it turned out to be garbage I would have been pissed.
I loved Cigarette Burns. It's definitely the best out of the M.O.H series. Anchor Bay put it onto DVD about a year ago. You can rent it from Blockbusters and I've seen it for sale at Best Buy and Wal-Mart for around $8-$12. It's definitely worth a buy.

I haven't seen the Hills remake, one of my buddies said it sucked but i'll see it, the problem is i have to see the original again before i watch the remake because i haven't seen the original since i was about 15, that's 16 fucking years ago.
Fucking loved Cigarette Burns!!, i just bought it and it was awesome, then again i love everything Carpenter does, old and new, he is my fave director of all time. It had a Prince of Darkness feel to it, the best way to watch is stoned to because it is a trippy ass flick.
