My copy of the Buring was damn near unwatchable.
I did the Ebay thing the other day and ordered a supposed 'new' copy of 'the Burning' - It was supposed to say import, but 'Import' is just another term for 'bootleg' or 'burned copy'. It came in one of those paper slip covers with some shitty laminated picture of Cropsy with his shears on the front side of the dvd. It didn't even have a freaking chapter selection!
It WAS the MGM version, which is supposedly the best version. The picture quality was indeed great - the best I've ever seen of the film. Anyway, to shy away from my shitty luck on Ebay (the bitch got bad feedback), this is probably the best slasher besides Friday (if not better) from the early years of the 80's.
This one has some great gore. A great score. Great characters. It has an upbeat feeling to it which is always good. One of the best slasher ever made.

Yep, that's the one and it's a very good slasher flick. They were supposed to release it sometime this year but I guess it's been put off again, just like Pieces. I have an excellent print on dvd-r but you can find the same quality prints from www.truegore.com and www.horrortheatervideo.com.

I only knew that guy from Seinfeld was on there because of the KFC commercials he used to do lol. I don't watch sitcoms except the older ones. I have no idea who Holly Hunter played, they were all kids then.

Yeah holly was on it. This to me became a instant fav of mine it had a good killer that didnt talk and it was based in a camp with ahults acting like kids, this was a kick ass movie thanks norm! The gore was there and the acting was also there good and over acting shitty. Tom Savani did a great job on this one! That raft scene was a good shock man! i was thinking that a dead body was going to be in there *******Mini Spoiler*********
but it didnt have a body! It was a little massacre that fucking ruled man i dont think i ever seen that many killings in such little time with all different killings for each! fx's fucking ruled!

Yeah, the raft scene is what this film is known for! It's better than most of the Friday The 13th films in my opinion.

You like the killers better than the story lol? You didn't care for DGITWs because the killer was some wildman typy lol. But yeah, Savani's work was really good in this one, just about as good as in The Prowler.

They did a Seinfeld episode called "The Burning", which of course was an homage to Jason Alexanders appearance in the film.
