I thought I'd show a little appreciation for this underrated Aussie flick. 14 years after the director of cheapjack slasher flick 'Hot Blooded' is murdered, a group of film students attempt to finish the film and discover the rumours of a jinx on the production to be true... There's no denying Cut is stupid. It's cheesy, tacky and dumb - but it works. The very fact that it decides to parody those maligned mid-80s how-far-can-we-take-this body count horror pics and their endless sequels is what makes it great fun. Scream had already been there and done that for Halloween, Friday the 13th et al, but nobody had bothered to pay homage to the likes of stupid-twist slashers. Demi-god Molly Ringwald is excellent as the bitchy heroine and there are some neat deaths, including head-in-the-woodcutter and lots of impalings on various pointy implements, then there's the mad old woman who runs in saying the film is 'evil' and the most ridiculous explanation for the killer's presence ever cemented on film. "Believe me there was no creative energy put into this piece of shit!" - it's actually true, but the film's great anyhow. ...And it's great to see established goddess Kylie Minogue in her bit-part as said slain director, Hilary.

I saw this one on TV a few months ago and thought it was pretty good. It wasn't the best, but I wasn't expecting it to be amazing. For what it is I'd say it's worth a viewing.
