PI was made in 1998. It was directed by Darren Aronofsky and written by Aronofsky and Sean Gullette, who also starred in the film. Plot outline: A paranoid mathematician searches for a key number that will unlock the universal patterns found in nature. This is one helluva low-budget film (only cost $80,000) that will blow you away. There is nothing like it. it goes to show you that a truly intelligent, interesting, different, excellently acted and directed science fiction film can be made. Forget all the big budget boogers out there. Watch this movie if you want to be stimulated and entertained at the same time. And, to make it even more of a modern-day film marvel, it has one of the best soundtracks to come along in quite a while, featuring the likes of Orbital, Clint Mansell, Aphex Twins, and a bunch of other techno groups, all of which add to the orginal flavor of this science fiction masterpiece. I give this baby 2 SEVERED THUMBS UP!
