OK I watched this movie over 100 x and I never seen this ending the ending I alway see is this.... at the end the main girl says oh what a cute dog and bends over to pet it and the dog shoots out a killer space slug into her mouth...
OK Last night I watched it on SC - FI channel and this is how it ended... When the guy and guy (main people) were hugging the girl never seen the dog.. then the camera went off to the side of the road and showed the stud detective!( one of the greatest horror roles IMHO) walk off all toasted from the fire with a cigar in his mouth and he walks to the cemetery and falls over by the gates and his head exploded!( I hated to see him die off this was, I liked it when he went out like a true solider!) but anyways the slugs all shot out and went into the cemetery and the camera showed a tombstone with a spot light on it ... the spot light was coming from a big mother space ship... OK how and where do they play this ending? I know you all had to see this one. It was a shock to me.
Oh yeah it was cheesy but it is a great 80's horror movie!!!!!!!! and I pray they dont do a remake of this one!

NIGHT OF THE CREEPS
(2 VERSIONS: ZOMBIE DOG / CEMETERY ENDINGS)
Brain slugs from outer space...
1986 was a pretty good year for horror films. There were stellar, undeniable classic releases like ALIENS and The Fly. Gore soaked goodies such as From Beyond; and then there was a severely underrated gem called Night of the Creeps.
A skin crawling tale about parasitic alien slugs accidentally unleashed from a cryogenic state of suspended animation, wrecking havoc on a college campus by way of invading the student bodies bodies through the mouth, effectively turning them into kill-happy zombies. The infesting parasites incubate in the brain long enough to spawn another generation. When the alien slugs are born, the host's top pops!
Taking virtually something or another from every horror movie ever produced, this lively homage makes seeming cliches appear fresh and alive again. This film's sense of humor is sharp and the scares are plenty. The effects are outstanding and the finale at the sorority house is one of the most memorable from an 80's horror film. If you like a decent horror film complete with old fashioned make-up effects, you will LOVE this this film. If you like to have a good laugh and some gore when you watch a horrorfilm, you will LOVE this film...If you like a combination of both, you will have the time of your life!
This Horror/Thriller is fairly original for a B-movie. Alien slugs that infest the brain and turn you into a zombie may seem like a typical B-movie theme, but it's portrayed in a fairly unique manner. Given the time period of this movie's release, and it's rather modest budget, It contains some very impressive special effects. One of which, where the alien slugs race along the ground throughout the film, is so simple, yet is done in such a way that makes them look quite realistic and is somewhat unnerving. In horror films, it is often the most simple effects that are the most discomforting to the viewer.
And then finally this little extra for the horror buffs : Do the following names of the leading characters ring a bell ? ray CAMERON - Cynthia CRONENBERG - Chris ROMERO - J.C HOOPER - Detective LANDIS - Detective RAIMI ... not to mention CORMAN University. Indeed, all characters are named after the biggest horror directors. This is a lot of fun when you're watching the film for the 2nd or 3rd time. Heck, even the small roles are filled in. The janitor's name is Mr. Miner ( The first "House" film was directed by Steve Miner) and even the cat is named GORDON ( Stuart Gordon directed Re-Animator)
Lots of tongue in cheek fun; or is that SLUG in cheek fun...

The bootleg DVD has both the TV version and the normal VHS version. Each version probably has an different ending but I have no idea if either are uncut.
