Severance finally got around to a US opening (we're a little slow here) and I caught a screening this weekend. I must say, I was really impressed. The film is an all-out Horror Comedy and it handles both the horror and the comedy really well. I'm no big fan of movies that juggle both, I often feel one far outweighs the other, but Christopher Smith's new film does it perfectly and by the end of the film you're begging for more. It was so joyous that afterwards my girl and I scrounged around my film collection looking for other successful horror comedies... Needless to say I don't own many as I feel there truly aren't many good ones. SEVERANCE may not be the straight ahead 70s & 80's slasher films we love so much on this board, but it's pretty damn entertaining. It boasts fun performances by it's entire cast (I especially liked Laura Harris's sexy turn as the potential final girl) Check it out if you can. There's a dvd of it now available in england.

Excellent, excellent movie! Very funny, but also very intense in spots. More importantly, maybe one of the most just overall entertaining movies I've seen in quite some time. I own the dvd which I got off of Amazon.uk for about thrity bucks. It was well worth it just for the commentary which is some of the funniest shit I have ever heard. Danny Dyer and Chris Smith are hilarious. Has anyone seen Chris' first movie Creep? I just ordered it for ten bucks.
